“आज 12 जून असाच 2000 सालाचा 12 जून
मी शाळेत होते आणि बाईंची कुजबुज चाललेली पुलं गेले ……
जशी मी प्राध्यापक तसेच माझे वडील निवृत्त प्राध्यापक त्यामुळे कॉलेज मधली बहुतांश पुस्तके आमची वाचून झालेली
मी अवघी 7 वी मध्ये होते तोपर्यंत मी पु.ल. देशपांडे यांची काही पुस्तके वाचली होती तेव्हापासून लागलेले वेड आजतागायत आहे.
म्हणजे अगदी pregnancy मध्ये पण मी ऑडिओ विडिओ ऐकत पाहत होते.
आणि त्या दिवशी बाई मला म्हणाल्या उद्या पु.ल.देशपांडे यांच्या श्रद्धांजली निमित्त तुला पु.ल. देशपांडे यांच्या विषयी माहिती द्यायची आहे.
वर्तमानपत्रात मोठ्या व्यक्तींच्या निधनानंतर दुसऱ्या दिवशी जेवढी माहिती छापून येते तशी माहिती एकत्रितरित्या नंतर कधीच मिळत नाही असा माझा समज आहे.
आणि त्याप्रमाणे मी माझे काम केले.
आजही मला पुलंची म्हैस….!!!!! प्रचंड आवडत…म्हणजे म्हशीचा प्रवास ऑडिओ कॅसेट नंतर सिडी… pendrive ते youtube इतका झाला आहे
हसणं काय असत आणि हसवण किती अवघड असत आणि तेच अवघड काम करून पुलं नी त्यांच्या लिखाणातून आपल्यासारख्या माणसांचा अवखळ पणा टिकवून ठेवला आहे.”

Today, June 12th, marks the same date in the year 2000. I was in school, and the bustling corridors echoed with the sound of students rushing to their classes. Just like me, a teacher, and my retired father, a former educator, had spent countless hours reading books from the college library.
Since my 7th grade, I have been engrossed in the works of P.L. Deshpande, and the impact of those books still resonates with me today. Even during my pregnancy, I found solace in listening to audio and watching video recordings of his works.
On that day, a friend approached me and informed me about the commemoration ceremony for P.L. Deshpande the next day, urging me to gather more information about him. It’s fascinating how, after the demise of prominent individuals, we often see a surge of information about their lives printed in newspapers. Gathering such information is a rare occurrence, and I had a sense of accomplishment after completing this task.
Even today, I marvel at the evolution of technology, from cassette tapes to CDs, pen drives, and now YouTube. The ability to laugh and make others laugh is both challenging and rewarding. Alongside the laughter, the difficult work of maintaining bridges and preserving the legacies of individuals like P.L. Deshpande continues.
